2048

2048 is a sliding puzzle about doubling. Every move slides all the tiles one way, and two equal tiles join into one twice as big. Owlie says why each new biggest tile appears, so powers of two stop being a list and become something your child builds.

What your child learns

  • Doubling: 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64
  • Powers of two, the numbers computers count in
  • Planning: keep the big tile in a corner
  • Staying calm when the board fills up

How to play

Swipe on the tiles, drag them with the mouse, press an arrow key or tap an arrow button. Every tile slides that way. Two tiles with the same number join. A new 2 appears after each move. Make the goal tile to finish the level.

  2. Level 2Make a 256.
  3. Level 3Make the 2048 tile.

A tip for parents

A good habit to share: keep the biggest tile in one corner and build towards it. If the board fills up, a new one starts at once.
