Word Glue
Word Glue shows children that many long words are two short ones stuck together. They name a picture by gluing two pieces, then choose the piece that makes a real word, then join a whole board. A long word stops being scary once you can see its parts.

What your child learns
- What compound words are and how they are built
- Reading a long word by finding its parts
- Guessing the meaning of a word from its pieces
- New words for everyday things
How to play
Look at the picture and tap the two pieces that name it. On the next level one piece is already there, and only one of the four others makes a real word. On the last level, tap a piece on the left and its partner on the right. Owlie says each finished word.
Levels
- PictureA picture and six pieces: tap the two that name it.
- Which fits? One piece is given: which of four makes a real word?
- Whole boardFour pieces on each side: join them all.
A tip for parents
The word lists were written for each language rather than translated, so they follow how that language really builds words. In Bulgarian, Russian and Ukrainian the joining letter appears as a drop of glue, which makes a pattern children can spot in new words.
