Same & Opposite
Same & Opposite builds the vocabulary children need for reading and writing. They find a word that means the same, then one that means the opposite, then sort a whole cloud of words into two baskets. When a word lands in the wrong place, Owlie explains why.

What your child learns
- Synonyms: different words with nearly the same meaning
- Antonyms: words with opposite meanings
- Richer words for writing than big, good or nice
- Telling apart words that are easy to mix up
How to play
Read the word at the top, and Owlie reads it too. On the first two levels, tap the one of four choices that means the same, or the opposite. On the last level, tap a word and then its basket, or drag it there with a finger or the mouse. A word in the wrong basket goes back to the cloud.
Levels
- SameA word and four others: which means the same?
- OppositeA word and four others: which means the opposite?
- Two basketsSort a cloud of six words into Same and Opposite.
A tip for parents
The words were chosen for each language rather than translated. A wrong answer is a chance to learn: the game says what the word really means instead of only marking it wrong, and there is no timer.
