What your child learns

  • The letters I, V, X, L and C and their values
  • Why IV is 4 and IX is 9 (the smaller letter in front)
  • Reading years and clock faces

How to play

On level 1 your child picks which number a Roman numeral is. On level 2 they carve a number with the letter keys; a wrong letter gets an explanation of the place values. Level 3 mixes Roman clocks and years.

Levels

  1. Level 1Read Roman numerals up to 39.
  2. Level 2Write them up to 100.
  3. Level 3Clocks and years.

A tip for parents

Look for Roman numerals together: in chapter numbers, on clocks, on old buildings and in film credits.
