ABC Order

ABC Order turns the alphabet from a song into something a child can use. Children tap letters in order, then whole words, then words with the same first letter, where the second letter decides. It is the same skill they will need for a dictionary or a class list.

What your child learns

  • The order of the alphabet, including where each letter sits
  • Sorting words by their first letter
  • Looking at the next letter when first letters match
  • Reading short common words

How to play

Tap the piece that comes first in the alphabet, then the next one. A right piece flies to its place and Owlie says it. A wrong one shakes, and the alphabet along the bottom lights the two letters to compare, so the child can check and try again.

Levels

  1. LettersFive letters to put in order, five rounds.
  2. WordsFive words, each starting with a different letter.
  3. Same first letterFive words with one first letter: the next letter decides.

A tip for parents

There is no timer and no score to lose, so a child can look along the alphabet as long as needed. Sorting is a real school skill, and it prepares children for dictionaries, indexes and lists.
