What your child learns

  • Spotting rules in number patterns
  • Using a key to decode a message
  • How a shift (Caesar) cipher works

How to play

Each round shows a pattern or a coded word. Your child works out the next number or the hidden word; the alphabet is there to help with the shifts. Five right answers finish a level.

Levels

  1. Level 1What comes next in a number pattern?
  2. Level 2Read a secret word with a picture key.
  3. Level 3Undo a shift cipher.

A tip for parents

Write each other a short message in the shift code and see who decodes it first.
